Jericho Canceled - Again?

I have been doing a lot of online spoiler reading today and it looks like the final two episodes of Jericho this season will be the final two episodes, period. It is a shame, but with numbers at 50% of where they were when it was canceled in the first place, we all knew this was coming.

Nothing official is out there yet and some say even if it is canceled, it might make its way over to the Sci-Fi Channel (with even more indoor shots and less of a budget.)

From The Hollywood Reporter:
"Jericho." CBS must make this decision quickly since only two episodes remain in Season 2 and the network has to choose Ending A or Ending B. Two conclusions to the season have been shot. One puts a narrative lid on the series (lest protesting fans pelt CBS executives with thousands of pounds of nuts again), the other more of a cliffhanger. CBS notes that the show gains from DVR viewership and online viewing, but after its performance the past two weeks, most doubt the citizens of "Jericho" will live to fight another season.
From Spoiler TV:
I've just been speaking to my source at CBS about this article from Hollywood Reporter and he says that the non-cliffhanger ending will be shown and Jericho will not be renewed.

Finally, The New York Times: Once Again, Jericho Is on Thin Ice

I'd watch it on the sci-fi channel.

I blame DB Sweeney. It's his curse. Everything he does ends up on sci-fi.

But really, Jericho has a cult following and a lower budget wouldn't really hurt it that much, so if I were the producers I'd at least consider it.

I'd watch on Sci-Fi. There would be less ratings pressure for them on cable and they could actually spice it up a little as well. I think it would be a great move as there is a loyal fan base (in general) and they are already showing season one repeats on that channel (so that would make for a built in second generation audience ready for more.)

Of course if they do a "happily ever after" ending and tie up all the plot points, it might make it hard to continue.

Re: Jericho Canceled - Again?

I saw a commercial for Tuesdays episode during Big Brother and the tagline was, "Tune in for the series finale."
