I saw the following picture on Digg and Reddit a few days ago and there was somewhat of a sensation over "how cute it was."



Everyone was saying, "Awwwwwww......Look how the sweet little cheetah cub is nuzzling up with the baby gazelle!"

Unfortunately one picture does not do this situation justice and I am sad to report that the reality is much more nefarious. Read more about this if you dare over at the Daily Mail: Cheetahs Torture Gazelle.

I think this whole exercise is interesting,that nature has going on. That the mother would keep it alive just long enough so the babies would learn how to survive. Like a starter course 101 for how to kill prey. That is amazing to me. Think how tortuous it would be if the cheetah cubs did not know how to feed themselves and then starved to death. Nature is truly amazing.

Oh, I know it is nature. All I was pointing out was how that cute picture really wasn't that cute.

Well you know I think I heard somewhere on the news (probably Faux News) how the Cheetah befriended the gazelle, so I had no idea what the real story was behind the picture. So it is interesting. I did not think you were making a crazy PETA point about tortue or comparing it to waterboarding or Gitmo! I know you like your steak.

I just think the whole systems we have in nature is truly amazing.

WOW...I dont even know what to say about this it is incredible but also very sad that the gazelle has to be tortured. I know it is the "circle of life" and all, I just can't help myself from feeling sorrow for the gazelle.
