Really? It is so critically lauded. I am surprised you feel this way. I was hoping it was going to be really good!

Yeah I watched it a few weeks ago. Loved it while I was watching. Then the ending was such crap I wished that I could unwatch it.

Thumbs down Re: No Country for Old Men

I didn't like it either! It was slow-moving and hard to understand, and then the ending was abrupt!

When I watched it I felt like I was going to hell for seeing such brutal murders...

And the ending did suck butt.

Re: No Country for Old Men

I finally watched this Oscar winning film and I am not going to call the ending horrible, but rather just "missing" in the standard Hollywood sense. It was an "artistic" close which allowed the viewer to interpret the outcomes rather than the standard wrapped package that we have grown to expect.

Sure, I rewinded back after the surprise drop to credits, but in watching the last 5 minutes again - it hit home. The movie is not about who gets the money or if the killer is caught. It is about a man with a conscience that is no longer valid in a rapidly deteriorating society. Everything else is just texture...

If you pull back the distractions and find the movie core, you will see that it ended as it should.

Overall I thought No Country for Old Men was thought provoking and pointed. Javier Bardem was convincing as a kick ass, cold blooded killer and Josh Brolin did a spectacular job of playing the hunter who becomes the hunted.

Even though I didn't fully like how things turned out, I can see why this movie was so critically acclaimed and will probably watch it again soon.

ooof....i'm just not a fan of the Coen Bros. Not at all. I do, however, owe The Big Lebowski another viewing.
