I think Horror gets a lot of flack for its bad sequels. it needs to start taking itself seriously before everyone can take it seriously. Descent 2 would be terrible and over produced |
The Descent is without a doubt, the best horror movie of the past decade. It focused on real fears and true scares instead of using every cliche it could.
If directors would realize what they are getting themselves into with sequels, than they wouldn't get as much bad rep for it. The Descent 2 I am going to see. Regardless, of how much they should leave it alone I will see it. Sequels don't have to be bad. Halloween 2 was an amazing movie following up to the greatest horror movie ever made. They just need to realize what they have to do in order to keep the franchise fresh.
Scream 4 needs to be taken seriously. The first movie worked so well because it took all the cliches of horror movies and turned it into one big montage, but still made it scary, believeable, and funny. That is why it is one of the best horror movies ever. Scream 2 and 3 failed so horribly in my eyes because they were riding off the success of the first two, not recreating the story in other ways. Sidney, Dewey, and Gail were what kept the franchise going. Along with Craven's brilliance. Without them in the fourth, it will not get any better.
