Thumbs up Pushing Daisies: Ep. 02 - Dummy

I could have been in a quirky mood, but I think that episode topped the pilot!

to be continued....

Re: Pushing Daisies: Ep. 02 - Dummy

I found Pushing Daisies part Deux creative and it gave us a hint as to what is in store for this season. I was quite concerned going into the episode that the series would not be able to continue with the inspired writing and original feel; My worries were quickly alleviated.

I am going to be honest and state right out front that the part where Olive Snook broke into song and dance almost had me hitting fast forward on my DVR. I can not stand even the hint of a musical in an otherwise entertaining show. I was basically on the edge of my seat ready to scream, "I was tricked, this show is going to suck! I am getting out while the getting is good!"

The encouraging news is that I waited it out, as bad as it was, and made it to the meaty part of the storyline in the Dandy Lion car facility where things really took off - and came 'alive" per say.

Once again in episode two, the sets were meticulously structured to have an "out of worldly" look and the costumed actors continued the surreal feel of the environ. One thing that has impressed me with this show is that everything looks absolutely amazing. They are obviously the frontrunner's early on for any Emmy awards related to set design.

All in all I didn't find the mystery that mysterious - but maybe that is the point. It is not about the crime, but the the story of the path to solving the criminal presumption in each installment of this series. That will work for me as it was not like I was expecting CSI level diagnostics to find the killer.

Overall I was impressed with what I have seen so far and look forward to next week!

I felt the same about the song, but as soon as I recognized the first syllables of the song...Hopelessly Devoted to You... I died laughing. So perfect for the character.

(Mind you I would prefer they not do that again)

My fiance was watching with me and I could tell he was giving me all sorts of eye rolls during most of the show. We have such different tastes. I think he sat with me for most of it.

I agree that there will be an Emmy or two in store for them. Hey it may even snag best comedy.

And they kissed! How cute was that. I'm sure there will be a lot of plastic being used for the rest of the season. LOL

I could see a little - or a lot of - liquid latex coming in handy for these two!
